From the Uco Valley to the Heights of Salta
Argentina is a land of extremes, where altitude is the defining factor of quality. At WineToShip, we specialize in the wines of Mendoza, particularly the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. These high-elevation vineyards enjoy intense sunlight and cool nights, resulting in Malbecs with deep color, silky tannins, and vibrant acidity. While Malbec is the star, Argentina also produces world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Bonarda that offer incredible structure and value.
For white wine enthusiasts, our collection features Torrontés, Argentina’s signature white grape. Primarily grown in the northern region of Salta, these wines are famous for their explosive floral aromatics and crisp, dry finish. We also feature the cool-climate gems of Patagonia, known for elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Whether you are seeking a 100-point icon from Catena Zapata or an affordable steakhouse favorite, our Argentinian selection delivers the spirit of the Andes to your door.
Argentina Wine Guide & FAQ
What does Malbec taste like?
Argentinian Malbec is loved for its plush, "velvety" texture. You can expect bold flavors of black cherry, plum, and blackberry. Because it is often aged in oak, you will frequently find secondary notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla with a smooth, lingering finish.
Why is altitude important in Argentinian wine?
Higher altitude means cooler temperatures and more intense UV light. This causes the grapes to develop thicker skins (resulting in more color and flavor) while preserving the natural acidity that keeps the wine fresh and balanced rather than "heavy."
What is Torrontés?
Torrontés is Argentina's flagship white wine. It is unique for its incredible "perfumed" aroma, smelling of jasmine and geranium. Despite its sweet floral scent, the wine is almost always bone-dry on the palate with a refreshing, zesty finish.
What food pairs best with Argentinian Malbec?
The classic pairing is grilled steak (Asado). Malbec’s soft tannins and rich fruit also make it excellent with leaner meats like lamb, roasted pork, and empanadas. It is also surprisingly good with spicy dishes, as the fruit concentration helps balance the heat.
