Bumbu: The World's Most Decorated Rum

A 400-year-old tradition in every drop.

Based on a recipe used by 16th and 17th-century sailors of the West Indies, Bumbu The Original is a small-batch, handcrafted rum from a historic Barbadian distillery founded in 1893. Using the finest sugarcane from across the Caribbean and distilled with the naturally coral-filtered water of Barbados, this spirit is aged for up to 15 years to achieve an effortless balance of complexity and smoothness.

The Aging

Aged up to 15 years in Grade A, once-used Kentucky bourbon barrels.

The Design

Housed in an ultra-heavy glass bottle with a tarnish-free pewter "X" and oversized cork.

The Purity

Distilled with ultra-pure water naturally filtered through Barbadian coral limestone.

The Flavor Profile

Bumbu is famous for its rich, tropical sweetness. Expect a profile that is bold but never aggressive:

  • Nose: Complex aromas of soft caramel, Madagascar vanilla, and exotic tropical fruit.
  • Palate: Medium-bodied and incredibly smooth. Distinct notes of roasted bananas, warm cinnamon, and a hint of ginger.
  • Finish: Long and sweet with a velvety texture that needs no chaser.

Bumbu Rum FAQ

Is Bumbu a spiced rum? +

Bumbu is technically a spirit drink based on aged rum and natural Caribbean spices. While it drinks like a premium aged rum, the addition of native spices gives it its signature dessert-like profile, often making it a favorite for those who enjoy spiced rums like Sailor Jerry or Kraken, but want more refinement.

How should I drink Bumbu? +

It is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks due to its inherent sweetness. However, it makes an incredible "Bumbu & Cola" or a "Bumbu Punch" when mixed with pineapple and lime juice.

Where is Bumbu made? +

While the sugarcane is sourced from eight different countries across the West Indies, Bumbu The Original is distilled, aged, and bottled at a single estate in Barbados.
