We chose potato to make vodka from not because it's easy or the least expensive. In fact, it is one of the most expensive bases to make vodka from. That's why you don't see many on the retail shelves anymore. However we are not trying to make the cheapest vodka...our quest is to make the creamiest, smoothest vodka around. When polling groups of tour guests at our distillery and at local tastings we frequently ask people to define vodka. Most think potato is a necessary requirement...not so. You can make vodka from just about anything that has sugar or where you can convert the starches into sugar.
